Superfine Merino, produced at Jaggerspun yarns and made from super fine Australian wool, is a soft, elegant yarn that has traditionally been used in creating garments of the highest quality. It is a true luxury yarn. Consider combining this yarn with Zephyr 2/18 in weaving projects.
This yarn also fulls and felts beautifully; soft felted garments, such as scarves, made with this yarn are a pleasure to be worn close to the skin. Products made with this yarn soften considerably after wet-finishing.
For the initial finishing of your completed woven or knitted item, you may prefer to use warm water and a small amount of Dawn detergent or washing solution for wool. By hand, squeeze and agitate slightly to remove all traces of the wax used in the spinning process. Until you have experience with how much agitation is appropriate, be careful to err on the side of caution and use very little agitation as this wool will felt. Lay flat to dry. To increase fulling, you may machine dry the finished item on low heat, checking frequently. A steam iron using a wool setting may be used on a dry or damp finished item.
This is a 2/18 (2-ply) laceweight yarn.
Weaving setts normally range from 20 to 30 epi. Although 20 epi in plain weave will be loose, it can be fulled considerably such that it is ilght weight and stable.
